The phrase ‘gluten-free’ seems to be everywhere these days.

But just how important is it to businesses to cater for this market in 2016? In short…HUGELY IMPORTANT.

According to Grocery Trader (October 2015) “consumer demand is increasing for a greater range of fresh gluten free food to eat as part of busy lifestyles.”  In 2015 the industry was worth over £238million, and the gluten free category had seen a 29% growth on the past year and was still accelerating.  Around 50% of shoppers are now buying into this area of food and spend on gluten free per buyer has risen by 16.5% in the last year, with the volume of products purchased and the per-pack spend both increasing.

As if that wasn’t enough Kantar World Panel predicts the gluten-free market will be worth a staggering £519m in 2016, big business for anyone and further proof Coeliacs want gluten free alternatives and don’t want to always rely on naturally free-from foods.

At Aulds Delicious Desserts we identified the demand for Gluten Free products early and can now happily say we boast a fantastic range of not only Gluten Free desserts, but award winning Gluten Free desserts!

Take our Belgian Chocolate Cheesecake, for example, which won ‘Best Free From Cake’ at the 2013 Cake Awards.  A delicious chocolate biscuit base topped with a smooth Belgian chocolate cheesecake studded with chunks of chocolate brownie and finished with sprinkles of dark chocolate spaghetti.  Definitely one of our most popular options!

Or more recently our Gluten Free Trio Berry Amore, a sophisticated & indulgent dessert marrying layers of strawberry, raspberry & blackberry mousse on a biscuit base, finished with raspberry flavoured glaze & white chocolate & yoghurt swirls.  Sounds amazing, right?  Right!  The Trio Berry Amore was nominated as an ‘Innovation Challenge Finalist’ at the 2015 Casual Dining Show in London, as well as winner of the ‘Special Diet Award’ for our partners Bidvest Foodservice at the Product Excellence Awards 2015.
